Scott A. Hiera is retired from the practice of law, but his legacy lives on through The Law Office of Hiera & Dennison, LLC . During his career as a licensed attorney, Scott successfully resolved hundreds of cases through settlement, arbitration, and trial. He represented clients throughout Illinois, including the counties of McHenry, Cook, Lake, DuPage, Kane, Boone, Carroll, and Macoupin. The scope of his practice included personal injury, medical malpractice and family law.
The personal injury cases that Scott routinely handled included injuries caused by vehicle collisions, slip and fall injuries, construction injuries, workplace injuries and injuries cased by medical malpractice. He represented clients who suffered anything from soft tissue injury to catastrophic injuries. He made substantial recoveries for his clients from large defendants such as Daimler Chrysler, Menards, Advocate Health & Hospitals Corporation, Proviso Family Services, Corp. d/b/a Resurrection Behavioral Health. Whether the defendant was a large corporation, or represented by a large and prominent defense firm, no defendant was too large or too prominent for Scott Hiera.
Prior to being admitted to the Illinois State Bar in May of 2003, Scott was a Firefighter/Paramedic as well as a Police Officer. Working in those two professions came with an immense amount of education. He had hundreds of hours of academic and practical education in emergency medicine as well as hundreds of hours of academic law enforcement education including attending Northwestern University's Traffic Institute in Evanston, Illinois for vehicle accident investigation. Combining this education with a Bachelor's of Science degree from Southern Illinois University and his Juris Doctor from Chicago-Kent College of Law, Scott had a rather unique legal perspective into the personal injury cases that he represented.
Scott has always been civic-minded and he enjoys helping others. He was in the United States Navy and served on the nuclear submarine, James K. Polk, SSBN 645; he worked on Appalachian Service Projects; he personally organized Local 3892 of The International Association of Firefighters and was their first President; he was a mentor in the Mentor/Mentee program at Chicago-Kent College of Law; he served as a member of the Board of Directors of Big Brothers Big Sisters of McHenry County; and he is a former member of the Board of Directors for the Lexi Kazian Foundation, Helping from Heaven, an organization helping special needs children and their families. Also of interest is that Scott joined MENSA at the age of 19.
